Sinus and Its Prevention

sinus meaning, sinus disease, sinus infections, sinus treatment, sinusitis, sinus infection, sinus problem, sinus symptoms, sinus problem, sinusitis treatment, how to get rid of sinus naturally, natural methods to cure sinus, sinus infections, how to get rid of sinus congestion, otolaryngology,

Sinusitis can be defined as injury in the tissue or the lining of sinus. Healthy sinuses are filled with air. But when they become blocked and filled with fluid, germs can grow and cause an infection.

Conditions that can cause sinus blockage include:

  • The common cold
  • Allergic rhinitis, which is swelling of the lining of the nose
  • Small growths in the lining of the nose called nasal polyps
  • A deviated septum, which is a shift in the nasal cavity

Types of Sinusitis

You may hear your doctor use these terms:

  • Acute sinusitis usually starts with cold like symptoms such as a runny, stuffy nose and facial pain. It may start suddenly and last 2-4 weeks.
  • Sub acute sinus inflammation usually lasts 4 to 12 weeks.
  • Chronic inflammation symptoms last 12 weeks or longer.
  • Recurrent sinusitis happens several times a year.
  • Common causes of chronic sinusitis include:
  • Nasal polyps. These tissue growths can block the nasal passages or sinuses.
  • Other medical conditions. The complications of cystic fibrosis, gastro esophageal reflux, or HIV and other immune system-related diseases can result in nasal blockage.

Prevention of Sinusitis

This entire step should be notted to reduce the risk of getting chronic sinusitis:

  • Avoid upper respiratory infections. Minimize contact with people who have colds. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially before meals.
  • Manage your allergies.  Move according to the instruction given by doctor to improve your allergy.
  • Avoid cigarette smoke and polluted air. Tobacco smoke and air contaminants can irritate and inflame your lungs and nasal passages.
  • Use a humidifier. Air inside the home must get dry; it happens if you have forced hot air heat, adding moisture to the air may help prevent sinusitis. Be sure to keep the humidifier clean and free of mold with regular, thorough cleaning.
  • Treat stuffiness (nasal congestion) caused by cold or allergies promptly. Avoid contact with people who have colds and other viral upper respiratory infections. If you do have contact with people who have these infections, wash your hands often, especially after being in contact with those who are infected.
  • Avoid cigarette, cigar, and pipe smoke in your home and workplace. Smoke causes and further irritates inflamed membranes in your nose and sinuses.

Inherited person with allergies should reduce the things that are the reason behind the allergic attacks. And take consultancy with your family doctor so that he/she could give you the correct anti-allergic pills. For more information, see the topic Allergic Rhinitis.

Avoid breathing dry air. Consider using a humidifier at home and work to increase the moisture in the air.

Make sure your child gets all the recommended immunizations. Some immunizations, such as pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, may help prevent ear and sinus infections.

POLLUTION AND HUMANS-BEINGS

pollution and human beings, effect of pollution on animals and human beings, water pollution and its effects on human beings, air pollution and its effects on human beings, radioactive pollution and its effects on human beings, respiratory diseases, air pollution,

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring contaminants. Pollution is often classed as point source . In 2015, pollution killed 9 million people in the world.

Air pollution has always accompanied civilizations. Pollution started from prehistoric times when man created the first fires. According to a 1983 article in the journal Science, "soot’’ found on ceilings of prehistoric caves provides ample evidence of the high levels of pollution that was associated with inadequate ventilation of open fires. Metal forging appears to be a key turning point in the creation of significant air pollution levels outside the home. Core samples of glaciers in Greenland indicate increases in pollution associated with Greek, Roman and Chinese metal production, but at that time the pollution was comparatively small and could be handled by nature.

Pollution, also called environmental pollution, the addition of any substance (solid, liquid, or gas) or any form of energy (such as heat, sound, or radioactivity) to the environment at a rate faster than it can be dispersed, diluted, decomposed, recycled, or stored in some harmless form. The major kinds of pollution are (classified by environment) air pollution, water pollution, and land pollution. Modern society is also concerned about specific types of pollutants, such as noise pollution, light pollution, and even plastic pollution.

By the middle of the 20th century, an awareness of the need to protect air, water, and land environments from pollution had developed among the general public. In particular, the publication in 1962 of Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring focused attention on environmental damage caused by improper use of pesticides such as DDT and other persistent chemicals that accumulate in the food chain and disrupt the natural balance of ecosystems on a wide scale.

What is Hysterectomy (Uterus Removal Surgery) - By Dr. Nivedita Kaul, Fortis lafemme shalimar bagh

Hysterectomies are one of
the most common surgical procedures in the world, with greater than 600,000
performed each year. For decades, abdominal and vaginal approaches accounted
for the vast majority of hysterectomies. The advent of better laparoscopic technology
resulted in the first Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH) in 1989.

An abdominal hysterectomy
is a surgery which removes the uterus through an incision in lower abdomen. A
uterus or womb is a place where a baby grows if anyone is pregnant. A partial
hysterectomy removes just the uterus, leaving the cervix intact. A total
hysterectomy removes the uterus and the cervix.

Vaginal hysterectomy has
been a wonderful breakthrough in the field of gynaecology. This hysterectomy
procedure involves the removal of the uterus and cervix (or parts of the two,
depending on the requirement of the surgery) using a laparoscope, by taking a
vaginal approach. It helps to completely do away with surgical cuts that were
earlier required to be made in the abdominal region, during abdominal
hysterectomies. Those often led to scarring, increased risk of complications
and a longer time for surgery and recovery from hysterectomy. Conversely,
vaginal hysterectomies require minimum invasion, the sutures given are self
absorbing and there is practically no scarring seen, thus, reducing the overall
recovery period. Normally, an abdominal hysterectomy recovery would require up
to twelve weeks, whereas the vaginal hysterectomy recovery period can be as
short as three weeks, as it is a laparoscopic hysterectomy procedure.

Symptoms and Treatment of Brain Tumor by Dr. Sunil Kumar Baranwal (NeuroSurgeon) Fortis Hospital

A brain tumor occurs when abnormal cells form within the brain. There are two main types of tumors: malignant or cancerous tumors and benign tumors. Cancerous tumors can be divided into primary tumors that start within the brain, and secondary tumors that have spread from somewhere else, known as brain metastasis tumors. All types of brain tumors may produce symptoms that vary depending on the part of the brain involved. These symptoms may include headaches, seizures, problem with vision, vomiting, and mental changes. The headache is classically worse in the morning and goes away with vomiting. More specific problems may include difficulty in walking, speaking, and with sensation. As the disease progresses unconsciousness may occur.

The cause of most brain tumors is unknown. Uncommon risk factors include inherited neurofibromatosis, exposure to vinyl chloride, Epstein–Barr virus, and ionizing radiation. The evidence for mobile phones is not clear. The most common types of primary tumors in adults are meningiomas (usually benign), and astrocytomas such as glioblastomas. In children, the most common type is a malignant medulloblastoma. Diagnosis is usually by medical examination along with computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. This is then often confirmed by a biopsy. Based on the findings, the tumors are divided into different grades of severity.

Secondary or metastatic brain tumors are more common than primary brain tumors, with about half of metastases coming from lung cancer. Primary brain tumors occur in around 250,000 people a year globally, making up less than 2% of cancers. In children younger than 15, brain tumors are second only to acute lymphoblastic leukemia as the most common form of cancer.

Crepes come out well when made with plain flour, as done in this recipe. I have also used low fat butter, which is easily available in the market today – it is good for use in such desserts where butter is required for texture and flavour.

Preparation Time: 10 mins

Cooking Time: 35 mins

2 tsp low fat butter
2apples,thickly sliced
1 tbsp sugar substitute
1/4 tsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder
1 tsp lemon juice

Other Ingredients

1/2 tsp low fat butter for greasing

Method For the pancakes

  1. Combine the plain flour, cornflour, milk, salt and ¼ cup of water in a bowl, mix well till no lumps remain. Keep aside.
  2. Grease a non-stick pan with the butter and pour 2 tbsp of the batter, tilt the pan around quickly so that the batter coats the pan evenly.
  3. When the sides starts to peel off, turn the pancake around and cook the other side for a few seconds.
  4. Repeat with the remaining batter to make 4 more pancakes. Keep aside.

For the apple filling

  1. Heat the butter in a non-stick pan, add the apple slices, sugar substitute, cinnamon, lemon juice and 2 tbsp of water and mix well.
  2. Cook on a medium flame till the apple slices are cooked, stirring once in between.
  3. Divide the apple filling into 5 equal portions. Keep aside.

How to proceed

  1. Place a pancake on a dry, flat surface and place a portion of the apple filling on one half of the pancake.
  2. Fold the pancake over the filling to make a semi circle.

  4. Serve immediately.

Tips

  1. Do not overcook the apples as the filling will become soggy, making it difficult to serve the crepes.

PREVENTIVE MEASURE OF POLLUTION

AIR POLLUTION

A. REDUCE THE AIR POLLUTION

Prevent as far as you can use own vehicle for going outside for ride. You can schedule pre-planned trips by sharing vehicle with your friend or by using public transport. Make your own lunch to avoid outgoings in lunch. Avoid driving out during rush hours.

B. SAVE ENERGY

While saving energy whether you are at home, school or any other place. You will be reducing air polluting particulates as well as carbon emissions that pollute the air.

C. USE ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS AT YOUR HOME

During purchasing of household particles prefer for clean and green products those should be chemical free and eco-friendly.

LAND POLLUTION

There are three steps to prevent land pollution. The three R’s:

A. REDUCE
B. REUSE
C. RECYCLE

A. REDUCE

Lower the buying of non-renewable articles go environment friendly to reduce the land pollution.

B. REUSE

Try to use your articles as far as you can because reusing will help you to less degrade environment.

C. RECYCLE

Try your best to recycle renewable things by damping them in recycle bin instead of throwing them here and there creating land pollution formation.

D. COMPOST

Always dump vegetables and fruits peel inside the soil so that it can prepare compost for itself for farming instead of using fertilizer which will reduce land pollution.

WATER POLLUTION

A. Sewage treatments

Water before releasing inside water bodies should be treated well so that pollution could be decreased. Contaminated water should ‘not get mixed with water bodies. If water gets collected together over a place then it should be removed over from there. So, as to prevent mosquitoes to breed over there and cause disease.

B. Prevent river water to get polluted

Cleaning can’t be done if water is flowing speedily. A variety of non-renewable waste is discharged in water due to which water becomes polluted. It can be further asset of for the cause of disease in human and plants and animals as well. Thus, every effort should be made to prevent the water from contamination. There should be a ban on throwing waste in water bodies so that water pollution could be reduced.

C. Keep the pond water clean and safe

Water bodies are gifted by nature to full-fill our daily needs  instead today we are using this to wash our clothes and utensils and other articles of home and discharge that dirty water directly into the water bodies. Even we use these water bodies as a bathroom for our cattle’s and pets to clean-up them. Human use these water bodies for stool secretion which is the major cause of water pollution. We shouldn’t use these water bodies to full-fill our needs bathrooms are man-made creation to improve this.

NOISE POLLUTION

A. Noise proof rooms should be made. So that noise shouldn’t come out of the room and our environment could become noise pollution free.

B. Use of pleasant sound horns should be used. Noisy trucks should be banned.

C. Noise producing industries, railway station, airports should be made far off houses and towns.

D. Community law enforces should check the, misuse of loud speakers, discos, outdoor parties, and public announcement system as well.

E. Community laws should ban notice near schools, colleges and hospitals as well.

F. Planting trees near the school, colleges, hospitals and societies as well is a good idea to reduce noise pollution.

ONLY CAMPAIGNS CAN’T REDUCE POLLUTION BUT INDULGING YOURSELF WILL HELP TO REDUCE IT.
